Takafumi Sakurai (Tokyo, Japan) aka Emufucka makes his second performance on Fremdtunes with his 10-track mini-album 'Retrace'. Inspired by 'the ultimate fate of the universe' and 'the relations of space and time' Emufucka blesses the world with blissful electronica-fuelled rhythm sculptures. The elements for his playful songs range from sweet-natured melodies and delicate drum-patterns to tough sounding basslines and heavy drums. On the track 'Can't nobody step to him' special guest Count Bass D amazes with softly spoken words on a pulverizing hip hop beat. Emufucka also invited 4 remixers: Quarta330, My Dry Wet Mess, Jazzo & Melodiesinfonie and, Coco Bryce – all adding refreshing new ingredients to Emu's cookery.

His blissful electronica-fuelled rhythm sculptures have already created a decent buzz amongst today’s worldwide instrumental hip hop scene. Releasing his first productions and remixes on Japan’s Slye label, he has since then worked with Count Bass D, DZA, St.Andrew, Quarta330, My Dry Wet Mess and Coco Bryce amongst others, and signed singles and EPs to imprints such as Alpha Pup, ICASEA, Fremdtunes and Citywurl. And despite the fact that this self-proclaimed shy, introverted beat head and American literature connoisseur follows a rather strict theoretical approach, his soundscapes always leave enough space for improvisation and that moment of quirky playfulness."
